Under the guidance of Dr. Mounir Al-Aroud, President of Al-Furat University, and as part of the plan to provide students with practical field experiences and link the theoretical aspect to the practical, and under the supervision of Dr. Engineer Nova Ahmed Jumaa, Dean of the College of Petrochemical Engineering, and in cooperation with the Student Union, the College of Petrochemical Engineering organized a scientific trip to the Taim oil field on Saturday, May 16, 2026, for fifth-year students, Department of Petroleum Engineering.
The students were accompanied by the engineers: Muhammad Al-Bakr, Madin Abboud, Anas Al-Hamsh, Nour Farhan, and Alaa Suleiman.
The students received the director of Deir ez-Zor fields, engineer Firas Al-Hamad, and the engineers and technicians working in the field. First, engineer Aslan Suleiman explained the security and safety rules in oil fields, the dangers of hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S), and ways to prevent it. The students then went to the RTS station to learn about its sections and learn about the three-phase separator and the principle of its separation of gas, oil and water, under the supervision of Engineer Khalaf Al-Abdullah. After that, the CBF station was explained and its sections were identified in detail.
Then, the students visited some wells and got to know the surface units, with their surface and subterranean sections, under the supervision of engineer Aslan Suleiman. Then the students went to see the repair rig that was carrying out the process of catching a variety of production pipes. The students learned about its sections and the method of fishing, and then they learned about the wellhead, the Christmas tree, and the surge arrester.
In conclusion, the students visited the central chemical laboratory located in the field, under the supervision of Engineer Muzahim Al-Yassin, where the students learned about methods for measuring the percentage of salts and water present in oil. All questions were answered, which enhanced the students' information.
The College of Petrochemical Engineering extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to all engineers and technicians for their serious support, so that the student graduates fully prepared to enter working life and the labor market with confidence.
